7 Beauty Essentials to Keep in Your Gym Bag

Whenever I’m out grabbing brunch with my active girl squad, we end up talking about our beauty routines. See, it can be tough to look put-together and professional when you’re constantly coming straight from a workout or heading to a workout afterwards. I often hit the gym before work, and have to speed-get ready in the locker room afterwards. Also, when I first started working out, I started struggling with some pretty serious adult acne:( Nobody likes zits, but I’ve got to say they’re ten times more unnerving when you’re a professional educator in your mid-20’s.

It took a whole lot of trial and error for me to find cosmetics and skin care products that work for me, and can be packed up and toted to and from the gym easily. I have a full spread of makeup at home, with all the brushes and blenders you could dream of. However, I only use most of that stuff on special occasions. This list is all about the products I use on a daily basis, and absolutely love!

      1. Proactiv+ 3 Step Acne Treatment System (30 Day) : Guys, I know proactiv is known for their lame infomercials, and it doesn’t work for everyone. But damn, it worked SO WELL for me. The “90 day” supply is pricy at $109, but it actually lasts 6 months if you’re using it once a day. I experienced a lot of dryness at first, but after two weeks or so my skin got used to it and I’ve had very few blemishes since. And the blemishes I do get are
        teeny and go away really quickly.
      2. Aveeno Positively Radiant CC Cream Broad Spectrum Spf 30 Medium, Skin Color Correction, 2.5 Oz : I actually don’t use this every day, but when I so, it looks great. It’s got SPF in it, and doesn’tclog my pores at all! This is actually all I use as foundation (i know that it’s not actually a foundation, people) and it lasts all day if you need it to. I never wear this during a workout, but it’s super easy to apply evenly at the gym with just your fingers; no brushes or blenders needed
      3. Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller, 0.5 fl. oz. : When you wake up at 5am every day, this is an essential. It provides light, moisturizing coverage. It lasts forever, too. Like the CC cream I listed above, this is super easy to apply post-workout, as it doesnt require brushes or sponges.
      4. Clarisonic Mia 2, Sonic Facial Cleansing Brush System – 2 Speeds for Gentle and Everyday Cleansing, Sea Breeze : Every blogger seems to have one of these and I’m almost embarrassed that I gave in a bought one. But I got it on a deep discount at my local Nordstrom Rack, and it worked wonders further clearing my skin up.
      5. Benefit Cosmetics POSIEBALM Lip Tint Hydrator Lip Balm : I actually have this in every color, but this one is my favorite. I’m prone to dry lips, and this stuff feels more like chapstick than lipstick. The color is just lovely and it’s so easy to throw on after a gym shower.
      6. Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Eye Liner Raven 0.28G/0.01Oz : Because carrying an eyeliner sharpener to the gym is a no-go! This stuff looks great. It does smudge a bit, so it’s not the best for DURING  the workout. But it goes on smooth afterwards, and the lid automatically keeps the end sharp.
      7. Maybelline New York Volum’ Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara, Brownish Black 212, 0.25 fl. oz. : Guys, I wear this religiously. I love it. I wear it while working out sometimes, even, and it never wears off or runs. It gives some nice thickness and curl to my lashes, and really makes my eyes POP.  You’ll need some decent eye makeup remover to get it off at the end of the day, but it’s worth it!
