Project Steps
1.    Group Assignment #1: [10 percent]

  1. After researching possible organizational structures for a company of this nature and applying your best judgment, create a business process decomposition diagram for your assigned company. Assume that the entity incorporates the following five business cycles: Sales/Collection, Acquisition/Payment, Conversion, Human Resource, and Financing.  Use the following technique of diagramming the business processes:

Using this format, please create two more levels (business processes & business events) under each of the five major business cycles shown above.
 
  1. Develop DETAILED Resource, Entity and Agent (REA) diagrams for each business process
 
2.   Group Assignment #2 [30 percent] 悉尼代寫assignment
  1. Develop Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) for each business process.
 
3.    Group Assignment #3 [50 percent]
a.       Build a working prototype of an ERP system for the company (using MS Access) based on your ER diagrams.
 
 
4.    Group Presentation [10 percent]
a.       Present the prototype to the class [10 percent].
 
 
Project "to-do" list:
  1. Make sure your design is relatively complete, stable, not screwed up. (normalized, relationships, etc.)
  2. Agree on naming conventions
    1. Table names
    2. Attribute names
    3. FK Names
    4. Example:
      1. TableName_attribName
      2. etc.
  3. Make tables
  4. Primary Keys
  5. Attrib
  6. Know which attrib’s are FKs
  7. Change captions
  8. Masks (phone #’s, SSN, etc)
  9. Export all tables from your different databases into a single common database.
  10. Never use the source DB’s again – put in separate folder for reference only.
  11. Create Relationships (DB Tools – Relationships)
  12. Populate with data
  13. Do Lookups
    1. It appears that you need to do all of the table operations all at once or you'll get duplicate tables in your database. With queries/forms/reports you can copy them from the individual databases and delete the old ones if you need to. You can't do it with the tables as deleting a table will delete the existing relationship(s).
  14. In the new DB – Probably with everyone together (arguing optional) - Do all of the table operations
  15. Make queries about data you want to retrieve
    1. Create forms for data entry
    2. Create reports for data presentation
  16. Make the database functional (macros)
  17. Cash paid out? Cash account $$ decreases
  18. Bought inventory? Inventory QOH increases
  19. Sold goods? Inventory QOH decreases
  20. Make copies of the DB for everyone to use.
  21. Please be careful to have "back" buttons on each page of your switchboard
  22. Database Functionality
  23. Copy the Tables, queries, forms, reports back to the main DB
  24. Work on the appearance - Switchboard
